Insider: Van de Ven among Tottenham star trio who could 'quit' after Frank latest

Tottenham are at risk of losing a number of their big-name players as a result of their recent struggles in the Premier League.

Spurs finished 17th last time out, and currently sit in 14th place with just seven wins from their 22 games under Thomas Frank so far this season.

As a result, former Tottenham scout Mick Brown warned Football Insider that a number of high-profile players are considering their futures in North London.

The likes of Cristian Romero, Richarlison and Micky van de Ven could be tempted to leave in search of new challenges should offers arrive in the summer.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Tottenham’s players are not performing for Frank and have not bought into his style of play and tactical plans.

Tottenham fear mass exodus of star players

Multiple key players at Spurs are already believed to be considering their futures, something Brown believes has contributed to their negative displays.

Romero was heavily linked to Atletico Madrid during the summer, while Real Madrid have been eyeing Van de Ven, and they are not alone.

“Part of the problem is some of these players are looking elsewhere,” Brown told Football Insider.

“They think they’re better than where Tottenham have been over the last couple of years, so they’re starting to think about which clubs might come in for them.

“Even players like Cristian Romero, Richarlison, Van de Ven, all of them can be fantastic on their day but they’re not stepping up for Tottenham at the moment.

“They know that even if Spurs are struggling, there will be somebody who wants them.

“If they keep finishing in these low league positions, they’re going to want to be playing higher up, competing for silverware and in the Champions League.

“That’s a tricky situation for Spurs to navigate because all of a sudden it’s like everybody isn’t pulling in the same direction any more.

“When we get to the summer window, there’s a real possibility a number of these players could leave.”

Thomas Frank sack update emerges

Football Insider revealed on 18 January that Tottenham are accelerating plans to sack Frank following their 2-1 defeat against West Ham at the weekend.

Saturday’s defeat and the reaction from Spurs fans is believed to be a “game-changer” for the club’s hierarchy, with chants of ‘sacked in the morning’ ringing out.

The boss remains in his position for now, and is set to lead Spurs in their clash against Borussia Dortmund on 20 January, but another defeat will likely spell the end.

The majority of fans have also now turned on the manager after just two wins from 11 Premier League games games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Brown told Football Insider on 5 January that Frank has lost the fans’ support and could soon be sacked as a result, with that pressure proving pivotal to the decision.
