Journo shares if Rangers midfielder looks likely to depart in next 45 minutes

Joe Rothwell’s exit from Rangers is yet to be announced.

The English transfer window closed at 7pm, but Rangers still have until 11pm to finalise incomings of their own.

However, with Rothwell linked with a move to join Sheffield United, that deal would have had to have been done by 7pm, unless the Blades submitted a deal sheet to get the move over the line.

That would leave them with less than an hour to get the move finalised, with a new update from Yorkshire on the situation unfolding.

Sheffield United journalist shares Joe Rothwell latest

Rothwell’s move to Ibrox simply hasn’t worked out, and as soon as the midfielder was linked with an exit from Rangers, there was an expectation that it would happen.

And as of earlier today, that looked on track.

Chris Wilder stated that the Blades were hopeful of getting a deal over the line for Rothwell, but the radio silence since then could suggest otherwise.

Sheffield United journalist Danny Hall said: “No indications at present about the Rothwell deal but all seemed on track earlier, even before Chris Wilder came out with some pretty concrete quotes.”

The Championship side have until 9pm to finalise the transfer if a deal sheet was submitted, and if so, a move could be announced at any point in the next 24 hours.

Rangers still working on incomings

Ryan Naderi has completed the first part of his medical ahead of a move to Rangers, despite the fact that Hansa Rostock are yet to give the green light for the move to go through.

The Light Blues’ move for the 22-year-old striker is proving to be quite the saga, but with little hope of a move for Cameron Archer, their Scottish Premiership title hopes may hinge on it.

James Tavernier is Rangers top-scorer this season with six goals, showcasing the struggles that the Gers have faced in an attacking sense.

But even then, Naderi’s signing may not change that, with reports earlier today suggesting that he could be loaned back to Germany for the rest of the campaign.

If that were to be the case, Rangers would find themselves back in the same position.

Time is slowly running out for the Gers to conclude their winter business.
