Tottenham could welcome Raheem Sterling after his long-awaited Chelsea exit.

Sterling has emerged as a potential target for Tottenham after his time at Stamford Bridge came to an end last week.

Chelsea confirmed the 31-year-old’s exit, leaving the winger up to a free transfer to any club in January or beyond.

With Thomas Frank coming under pressure at Tottenham, new options are needed, and the ex-England international could be a useful signing in N17.

There shouldn’t be any concerns over Sterling’s wages at this stage, with a Tottenham Hotspur Stadium switch potentially on the cards this winter.

Raheem Sterling could now join Tottenham

Sterling has played for four of the “Premier League big six” and could find himself ticking another one off that list in the coming days or weeks.

A move to the Lilywhites would be somewhat controversial at his spell at Arsenal last campaign, even if things didn’t truly work out at the Emirates – as showcased by SofaScore.

The Englishman returned to Chelsea and joined their bomb squad, and has now been let go from his reported £325,000-a-week salary at Stamford Bridge.

Having earned such a high figure with the Blues, former Tottenham scout Bryan King has suggested a move to Spurs could be perfect, as wages wouldn’t be a concern.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “Sterling is a player who would certainly be an interesting bit-part player.

I would think a Tottenham move would suit him, being a London boy.

He’s been a good player in the past, so getting him for six months wouldn’t be a bad signing, really.

It will all depend on whether he’s up for the challenge, and he should be. Good players want to play games, they don’t want to just collect their wages each week.

He’s earned a lot of money in the game and is financially sound, so they want to play top-level football if they’ve got anything about them.

Sterling could save Thomas Frank from Tottenham sack

Spurs fans may not be totally enamoured by the signing of the ex-Manchester City man, but his experience could be useful right now.

The Lilywhites are struggling, and outside of the Champions League, there has been very little positivity to speak of in N17.

There is a chance to bring in a forward with 396 Premier League appearances is on the table and feels like something Frank can’t turn down.

He is in need of experienced heads to help drive his younger stars forward, and you don’t get much more experienced at the top level than the Englishman right now.

His addition, if all goes well, could help turn the tide in North London and see Frank edge away from the sack.
