Man United insider close to Sir Alex shares his feelings on Carrick being permanent manager
Michael Carrick is edging towards becoming the next permanent Manchester United manager with confidence growing that he is the man to take them forward.
Since taking over from Ruben Amorim in January, the 44-year-old has won four, drawn one and lost one of his six games in charge, firing United into third place.
Star players including the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Benjamin Sesko have also taken to the boss and have been impressed during his short interim spell.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown, who was also Sir Alex Ferguson’s number for years, told Football Insider that it would take a remarkable turn of events for Carrick to lose out on the permanent role.
That comes despite Man United still assessing managers, with a number of big names still on their radar just in case they make a late pivot from their call.

Man United likely to appoint Michael Carrick
Brown told Football Insider on 9 March that Man United are happy with Carrick despite criticism from some club legends which have had little impact on their stance.
Despite some criticism from loud voices surrounding the club, Carrick remains a leading contender for United and remains focused on a strong end to the season.
“There are a few managers who would love the Man United job,” Brown told Football Insider.
“But I don’t see them ahead of Michael Carrick in any race, if that’s the word you want to use, because of the job he’s done so far, he’s proving himself already.
“Unless Carrick does something disastrous between now and the end of the season, that’s the only way they would probably have to look somewhere else.

“I can’t see a way any other manager, no matter who it might be, can stake a better claim to the job than he can at the moment.
“He already knows the players, knows the club, he’s having success on the pitch and people speak highly of him behind the scenes. What more do you want?”
Which players are in support of Carrick?
The Man United board are not the only ones to have been impressed by the work Carrick has done in his short time since arriving at the club.
Results on the pitch have been matched by his success behind the scenes, with a number of top players believed to be big fans of his man-management skills.
Football Insider revealed on 3 March that Fernandes hopes Carrick will be appointed full-time and is happy to stay at Old Trafford under his leadership.

This comes amid speculation that the Portugal international could be lured away from Man United this summer amid interest from Saudi Pro League clubs.
However, they remain determined to keep hold of their captain, who has been in sublime form under Carrick and is keen to continue in that vein.
