Tyler Dibling could prove to be the fall guy of early January business at Everton.

Dibling joined Everton in the summer for £42million from Southampton and has gone on to play a bit part role on Merseyside.

The winger did feature for 90 minutes as Everton secured a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest, with Iliman Ndiaye away at AFCON and Jack Grealish on the bench due to illness.

David Moyes has otherwise been largely reluctant to utilise the teenager, leaving Dibling little chance to prove why he was signed from Southampton.

Dibling could prove to be on his way out this winter to pick up more consistent minutes, something which could be necessary to rebuild a relationship elsewhere.

Harrison Armstrong recalled from Preston loan

Harrison Armstrong has returned to Everton as the Toffees brought an early end to his spell at Deepdale.

The 18-year-old has excelled in the Championship, having featured across 17 league appearances before his loan deal was cut short.

The Englishman may be utilised with Idrissa Gueye missing due to AFCON and then across the rest of the season in the Premier League.

Armstrong’s return has been received well at the Hill Dickinson Stadium due to the high potential the midfielder possesses.

Preston are less impressed by the recall, leaving Paul Heckingbottom’s side without a key player moving into the second half of the season.

Everton could look to mend their relations at Deepdale quickly, with Dibling potentially set for a January switch to replace Armstrong.

Moyes was once the Preston boss, and several former players have played for both and have positive relationships with both sides.

Armstrong’s move to the Lilywhites made total sense, but it has also made the Toffees realise how useful he could be in their first-team plans.

Dibling could be an ideal option to send to Deepdale this winter to help soften the blow of losing the 18-year-old mid-season.

Former Everton scout Bryan King has already mooted a move to Preston for the ex-Southampton talent, something which could go through now the January window is open.

He said: “I think it might be to give him a bit of confidence by loaning him to a Championship club.

He doesn’t seem to be getting too many minutes with Everton. Preston could be a good option for him.

You’ve got David Moyes, who started his managerial career there, and he lives in Preston, so I don’t think it would be a problem.

It’s an option that could benefit both Preston and Everton until the summer.
