Mikey Moore sends 2-word message to Rangers teammate after dramatic scenes on int'l duty

Rangers star Mikey Moore has reacted on social media to Jayden Meghoma’s involvement in England U20s’ 3-3 draw with Italy on Friday.

Having joined on a season-long loan deal from Brentford, the 19-year-old has provided six assists in 40 games this season.

Meghoma’s move to Rangers was initially scrutinised, yet he turned out to be one of the more impressive summer signings during the first half of the season.

However, despite being the first-choice left-back at the start of Danny Rohl’s spell in charge, the arrival of Tuur Rommens has completely disrupted his development at Ibrox.

Meghoma might be struggling at Rangers, but playing for the Young Lions during the international break will do him the world of good, despite the fact England bottled a three-goal lead.

Meghoma hasn’t started any of Rangers’ last six games, playing just 36 minutes of football in that time.

But on his outing for England against Italy, the young left-back was involved in a dramatic encounter.

A first-half brace from Tommy Watson and a header from Ayden Heaven looked to be enough to secure victory over the Azzurri, but second-half goals from Matteo Lavelli, Giacomo Stabile and Dominic Vavassori levelled the match.

Vavassori’s last-minute effort came in the 88th minute, making it an extremely demoralising result for the Young Lions.

Moore, who was initially called up to the England U19 squad before dropping out for medical reasons, showed his support for Meghoma.

The young defender played 78 minutes for the Young Lions and posted pictures of himself on international duty on his Instagram account.

Moore replied to his teammate’s post, and said: “My brother.”

The Bears have only seven matches left this campaign, and it’s not clear if he will start again as Rommens has stepped up his level in recent weeks.

Despite offering a lot going forward, Rohl doesn’t trust Meghoma enough to play in games of significant importance, as the Light Blues are chasing their first Scottish Premiership title since the 2020-21 season.

Rommens has been a standout in all areas for Rangers, and only an injury would result in him dropping out of the side.

At this stage of the season, the stakes for every game are so high, and including Meghoma on the side could become incredibly risky.

That means he could return to Brentford in the summer without much consistent game time in the second half of the campaign.
