Morten Hjulmand can be Roberto De Zerbi’s perfect signing at Tottenham
Morten Hjulmand has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur in the past, and this summer may provide too good an opportunity to pass up on.
Of course, that all comes down to which division Spurs are in first, with relegation to the Championship certainly giving them no chance of signing the Dane.
However, if Roberto De Zerbi can steer Tottenham to safety, then the North Londoners need to ensure that they provide him with the players needed to get this sinking ship afloat again.
Hjulmand has been linked with Tottenham in the past, and given how De Zerbi typically sets his teams up, he would be the perfect addition.

What would Morten Hjulmand offer at Tottenham?
Whether it be from his time at Brighton or Marseille, De Zerbi has almost always adopted the same tactic that utilised two midfielders.
One of them sits deeper and protects the backline, while the other is given the license to roam and help in transition.
Liga Portgual Hjulmand Duels won 121 Interceptions 20 Recoveries 144 Pass accuracy 90.7% Goals/assists 6
In regard to the former, De Zerbi had Moises Caicedo at Brighton and Pierre Hojberg at Marseille, both of whom are similar in playstyle to Hjulmand.
The Dane ranks in the top 4.9 per cent of midfielders in Portugal for tackles won, while also having won a remarkable 6.9 per cent of his total duels this season.
As of right now, Joao Palhinha is the only player suitable for that role at Tottenham, which will need to change if De Zerbi remains at the club beyond the current campaign.
How much would Spurs have to pay for Hjulmand?
If Tottenham are to progress as a club, they need players suited for the way they want to play, which hasn’t been the case for any of the past three managers.
Hjulmand would be the right type of signing to move in that direction, and according to Sport Witness, he would cost in the region of £35million.
For a player of his quality and, perhaps most importantly, his adaptability, it would be a no-brainer for Tottenham to test the waters this summer.
