Rangers eager to land 'Rolls Royce' defender permanently as eight-figure fee cited - report
Rangers are reportedly eager to push ahead with plans to sign Wolves defender Nasser Djiga permanently, but it may come at a fairly substantial price.
Djiga has racked up 36 appearances during his loan spell at Ibrox, which is due to expire in around a month’s time.
The Burkina Faso defender has been a key player under Danny Rohl, having started each of the Gers’ past five matches.
Djiga is due to return to Wolves, who have just been relegated from the Premier League into the Championship.
However, a fresh update has now emerged on the 23-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window opening.

Wolves want to recoup full fee for Nasser Djiga
Wolves’ relegation to the Championship could play into Rangers’ hands when it comes to negotiating a deal for Djiga.
As per 226foot, Ibrox chiefs are definitely keen for Djiga to remain in Glasgow beyond his loan spell this season.
Nasser Djiga Scottish Prem 2025-26 Games (starts) 20 (18) Mins per game 78 Goal involvements 0 Passing accuracy 93% Clean sheets 7 Errors leading to a goal 0
However, the deal is said to be “far from simple” owing to the finances involved.
Wolves want to recoup the full amount they paid to sign Djiga from Red Star Belgrade in the 2025 winter transfer window.
That, as reported by Sky Sports News at the time, was £10million.
Rangers will therefore need to hand over an eight-figure fee should they wish to bring in Djiga – hailed as a “Rolls Royce defender” by Andy Halliday – permanently for next season.

The report goes on to add that the coming weeks will be decisive, with the ball seemingly now in Rangers’ court.
Does Wolves’ relegation benefit Rangers as much as first thought?
On the face of it, the thinking is that Wolves being relegated will see them cut costs accordingly this summer.
However, Djiga is the exact type of player they could do with next season as they battle to return to the Premier League.
In fairness, Wolves are within their rights to demand £10m. It may seem steep – and it is – but he has not exactly got worse since they paid that amount to sign him.
It is entirely possible that Rangers could negotiate, with a lower fee and add-ons making it sound a more reasonable deal.
Djiga has proved his worth, so now it is over to Rangers chiefs to put their money where their mouth is.
