Crystal Palace fans are seriously unhappy that their club is spending up to £50million to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolves.

Strand Larsen‘s future has been up in the air for months after he failed to secure a move away from Wolves in the summer while Newcastle were interested in his services.

He has struggled to shine alongside the rest of his Wolves teammates this season, with just one goal scored in 21 Premier League appearances so far.

Several Premier League sides have registered their interest in his services despite his woes, with Leeds seeing a £40m bid for Strand Larsen rejected this month.

Palace have been linked to Strand Larsen amid uncertainty around Jean-Philippe Mateta’s future, and they are now advancing in a move to sign him before next Monday’s deadline for a club-record fee.

Mateta has been linked to Nottingham Forest after demanding a move away from Selhurst Park, hence why Palace are in the market for a new striker.

Palace have now agreed a deal with Wolves to sign Strand Larsen, with numerous reporters, including Fabrizio Romano, claiming that they are set to pay £45m up front with £5m included in add-ons.

Strand Larsen was a standout for Wolves last season as he scored 14 goals in 38 appearances while on loan from Celta Vigo, but he has been unable to replicate such form in 2025-26.

Many Eagles fans are unsure if he is the right man to replace a cult hero like Mateta, who has been a key player over the last two-and-a-half seasons, and the amount they are set to splash out has caused fury among supporters.

Palace chairman Parish has been under huge pressure this season after failing to back Oliver Glasner with ample signings in the summer window.

Marc Guehi’s departure and the impending exits of Glasner and Mateta have only turned the heat up on him ahead of a huge few months, and fans have fumed at him for this latest development.

The majority of Eagles supporters online believe Strand Larsen is not worth £50m, with one saying: “Strand Larsen has one goal in the league this season. He is a bench warmer for the worst team in the league and we’ve just paid £50m for him. Dougie (Freedman) PLEASE come back, I miss you.”

Another added: “50 million for a backup for the worst team in Premier League? Seems insane.”

While another said: “Look, the real world is not career mode/football manager, but if we have £50m available to spend, then surely, SURELY it can be better spent rather than one large sum on Strand-Larsen?? The model is ‘buy low, sell high.’ Not ‘buy high and hope.'”
