Sources: Southgate has clear stance on accepting Premier League offer

Gareth Southgate is not keen to return to club management in the coming months, sources have told Football Insider.

The former England boss is currently enjoying his time away from football and is in no rush to find a way to return to the managerial hot seat any time soon.

Southgate has been heavily linked with the Crystal Palace job, but sources say that it would take a “really impressive project” for him to be tempted into an imminent return to the dugout.

The Crystal Palace hierarchy have held talks with Oliver Glasner in the aftermath of his recent outburst, and the board are now continuing to plan in the background to find their summer replacement, with no immediate threat of Glasner walking away.

Southgate hasn’t managed in the Premier League since 2009, and is not pushing to get back into club management at the moment.

Crystal Palace prepared to offer job to Thomas Frank

Football Insider revealed on Sunday that Crystal Palace plan to offer Thomas Frank the chance to lead them forward, with his situation at Tottenham looking increasingly bleak.

The Dane is firmly under pressure after the Lilywhites’ latest home defeat at the hands of West Ham last weekend, which was met by an angered reaction from the fans at the full-time whistle.

Frank is set to remain in charge for the visit of Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday night, but the board are now assessing their options with the team languishing in 14th in the Premier League table.

The former Brentford boss is on the verge of losing his current job, but it is his previous work at the Gtech Community Stadium that has caught the eye of the Eagles in their search for a new man.

Frank’s work with the Bees was achieved at a comparatively similar budget to the one which is currently available at Selhurst Park, and that makes him an attractive candidate for the role.

His Tottenham struggles have done little to damage his reputation within the game, and Palace would view it as a coup if they were able to lure him to South London.

Crystal Palace already have Marc Guehi replacement in their sights

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on Monday that Crystal Palace are eyeing a move for Charlie Hughes from Hull City, as they bid to find a replacement for Marc Guehi.

The England international has now completed his move to Manchester City, with Palace losing their club captain to Pep Guardiola’s side.

They are already searching to find a replacement for Guehi, and are understood to have sent scouts to watch Hughes in the Championship in recent weeks.

The 22-year-old centre-back is on their radar, but is also attracting the attention of a number of different clubs after some impressive displays of late.

Hughes has never played Premier League football during his fledgling career, but Palace have the view that he is somebody who they can develop long-term.
