Tarkowski and McNeil react as ex-Everton teammate finds new club
James Tarkowski has been an ever-present at Everton ever since signing.
Tarkowski didn’t cover himself in glory against Leeds United in a rare, frustrating performance from the Englishman on Merseyside.
That doesn’t take away from how underrated Tarkowski has been for Everton by every other fanbase in the Premier League over the years.
David Moyes has gotten the best out of the defender on the whole, with Tarkowski remaining a key asset at Everton this campaign.
Tarkowski has now showcased his relation to the Toffees after taking to social media after a January switch was confirmed.

James Tarkowski reacts as Championship move complete
Tarkowski is the unsung hero of Everton and has been a consistent professional for the Blues in the midst of any turmoil in L4.
Even with Jarrad Branthwaite back from injury, it feels increasingly unlikely that the ex-Burnley man will lose his place in the starting XI any time soon.
The returning defender won’t be the first to fall second to the 33-year-old, with Conor Coady facing a similar blow to his minutes back in the 2022/23 season.
The former Wolves captain went on to join Leicester City after his Goodison spell, before joining Wrexham in the most recent summer window.
Things haven’t worked out for the 10-cap England international at SToK Cae Ras, and now he has joined Charlton Athletic on loan.
The Addicks shared an Instagram post to confirm the deal, with several Everton stars reacting with a like.
Tarkowski has been joined by Dwight McNeil as former Toffees teammates, to show support for Coady, while Harrison Armstrong has also reacted to the post.
Conor Coady could thrive at Charlton Athletic
It is strange to see a top defender who made 25 appearances for Everton just three years ago now finds himself at the bottom end of the Championship.
Things didn’t really work out for the Englishman at Leicester as the Foxes were relegated in his second season, with a system that didn’t suit his talents.
Wrexham appeared a better fit, but he hasn’t really been given a chance there, so a new opportunity at Charlton could make all the difference.
Year(s) Club Appearances 2025- Charlton Athletic – 2025 Wrexham 6 2023-25 Leicester City 43 2022-23 (loan) Everton 25 2015-22 Wolves 317
The Addicks are 19th in the table, but with their three-back formation under Nathan Jones, Coady could fit in perfectly.
It will be interesting to see how the ex-Evertonian gets on in the capital, but it is clear he has the backing of his former colleagues at the Hill Dickinson.
