Tottenham forward shares excitement as deadline day exit confirmed
Tottenham have just said goodbye to one of their youngsters before the transfer window shuts.
So far, Thomas Frank’s side have had a fairly quiet winter window. Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher was Tottenham’s statement signing, while left-back Souza joined from Santos.
A whole host of players have been linked with an exit, with Juventus trying to bring back Tottenham loanee Randal Kolo Muani.
But despite sitting 14th in the Premier League, a mere nine points above the relegation zone, Tottenham haven’t been all that active in the market.
Lower down the food chain at the club, though, some players are saying their goodbyes to the north London outfit.
Cardiff City sign Tottenham youngster on permanent deal
A couple of hours before the winter transfer window slammed shut, Tottenham announced that 19-year-old winger Herbie James has joined League One promotion-hopefuls Cardiff City on a permanent deal.
The teenager arrived at Tottenham from Manchester City in 2023 but never graduated from the academy to the first-team.
Herbie, who can also play as a number nine, will link up with Isaac Davies, who has completed a permanent switch from Nottingham Forest.
Following his departure, Herbie told Cardiff’s website that this opportunity was too good to refuse.
Although he and Davies have joined the Welsh team’s Inder-21 side, Herbie made it clear he has desires to play for their first team.
“I’m so excited by this opportunity,” said Herbie. “I felt it was one that I had to take, and at the same time I’m so pleased and happy to be here.
“The goal is to get momentum between now and the end of the season. There’s so much that I can learn. Once I’m in the environment, it’s game mode and being fully focused, with the aim to get involved with the First Team squad.
“I always look to excite and get people watching on their feet. The game is about scoring goals and I live for those moments. Seeing my new teammates alongside me pushing for those places in the First Team squad is very exciting and why I’m looking forward to being part of this project.”
Do Tottenham need to strengthen due to their injury issues?
As the winter transfer window draws to a conclusion, Tottenham have a number of troubling injury concerns.
Attacking midfielder James Maddison is likely to be out for the season with a knee injury, while midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur could face a similar fate with his thigh problem.
Winger Mohamed Kudus, defender Ben Davies, and midfielder Lucas Bergvall will be sidelined for a couple more months, plus, talisman Dejan Kulusevski, who has missed much of the campaign through injury, is still struggling with a troublesome knee problem.

While Tottenham have qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League, they are out of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup and are languishing in the Premier League this term.
Head coach Frank is a couple of bad results away from getting sacked by Tottenham, so some deadline day signings may lift the mood around Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
