View: 88% Everton misfit raises awkward Moyes questions after strong int'l display
Everton winger Tyler Dibling was able to put his club misery aside during a bright performance for England’s Under-21s, leaving David Moyes with questions to answer.
The 20-year-old played just shy of 75 minutes during the Young Lions’ 4-1 victory against Moldova on Tuesday night and caught the eye, despite not scoring.
He has endured a nightmare stint at Hill Dickinson Stadium since arriving from Southampton in a hefty £40million deal in August 2025, with Moyes slow to trust him.
Indeed, the youngster has made just 18 appearances on Merseyside while failing to record a single goal contribution, fuelling speculation that he could be set to leave already.
But he delivered a promising showing during the international break that he will hope will be enough to secure him a second chance for Everton ahead of their Premier League run-in.

How did Tyler Dibling play for England U-21s?
While Dibling didn’t set the world alight, he was steady. His Sofascore heatmap reveals he spent almost the entirety of his outing down the right, albeit often outside of the box.
He took 52 touches and completed three of his five attempted dribbles, helping the Young Lions to seize control of the game, while he also recorded 22 carries.
Southampton 24-25 Statistic Everton 25-26 33 Appearances 14 2 Goals 0 0 Assists 0 3 Big chances created 0 84 Pass accuracy (%) 86 51 Successful dribbles (%) 48
Despite getting chalk on his boots, the talent could only bring up one accurate cross, with his pass accuracy of 88 per cent suggesting he looked to keep his involvement simple.
Dibling clearly competed well throughout, winning seven of his nine ground duels.
Promisingly, he looks capable of producing magic out of nowhere, as demonstrated when he took on multiple opponents during the build-up to Archie Gray’s goal on 61 minutes.
While Moyes is unlikely to have been brought to his feet by his display, he would have seen enough to perhaps reassess the ace’s role over the coming weeks.

At the very least, he will have to justify restricting him to the occasional cameo.
Dibling display hints at future promise
Former Everton scout Bryan King believes moving for Dibling was a mistake, arguing that a sale is the best course of action. However, it would be premature if they cut their losses now.
In fact, his numbers for England’s U-21s largely matched his Toffees record. For his club, he has averaged 0.3 shots and 0.3 key passes per game, and has completed 86 per cent of his passes. He has also completed 0.9 dribbles, with a 48 per cent success rate.
Dibling is tied down to a four-year contract, likely meaning his future is secure for at least another year, but Moyes must decide whether he will have a future under him.
His performance for his country suggests there is more to come.
