View: Everton could miss out on matching three-year streak as supercomputer predicts result vs Arsenal

Everton are aiming to strengthen their European ambitions when they travel to face Arsenal on Saturday.

The Toffees currently sit eighth in the Premier League, and their recent wins over Newcastle and Burnley have solidified their place in the European spots.

David Moyes’ side haven’t played European football since 2017-18, but they’ve shown multiple times this season that they have the resolve to be competing in the top half.

However, they are now faced with the tricky task of beating Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, which is a long shot at best.

Everton’s clash with Arsenal will have huge ramifications for both sides, although it’s understandable why the visitors are going into the match as underdogs.

Arsenal predicted as overwhelming favourites vs Everton

Everton have won just one of their last 29 away league games against Arsenal, picking up a 1-0 win in April 2021.

And unfortunately for the Toffees, the Gunners have lost just one of their last 15 league games, going down 3-2 against Man United in January.

According to Opta, Everton are set for more misery against Mikel Arteta’s side.

Only Arsenal (nine) have won more Premier League away games this season than Everton (seven).

The Toffees have won four of their last five league matches on the road, and they could win three in a row for the first time since December 2023 (a run of four) if they were to secure all three points at the Emirates.

Although they have been seriously impressive on their travels, Everton could miss out on matching this two-year streak at the hands of the Gunners.

The Toffees will have their work cut out for them, but James Garner will undoubtedly have the most important role to play on Saturday.

Why James Garner is the key to Everton’s performance vs Arsenal

The 24-year-old’s performances this season have left him in contention for an England call-up, and it would be nothing less than he deserves at this point in his career.

The Sofascore graphic below shows why Garner is capable of playing in the World Cup, and it’s clear that Everton have a gem on their hands.

However, he’ll be facing up against Declan Rice, who has arguably been Arsenal’s best player over the last two campaigns.

Only Bruno Fernandes (92) and Dominik Szoboszlai (56) have created more chances than the England international in the Premier League this season (55).

It will be an entirely new test for Garner, but a solid display could not only help the Toffees secure a fantastic result but it would also boost his prospects of being named in Thomas Tuchel’s squad.
