View: Everton's European push: Are the Toffees well-equipped?

Everton remain in the conversation for European football next season, but whether they have the squad to compete is another question.

Heading into the final seven games of the Premier League campaign, Everton sit eighth in the table, which could be enough to qualify them for Europe next season, depending on who wins the competitions this time round.

Should they achieve qualification, it would be the first time since the 017-18 campaign that the Toffees have been in Europe, showcasing how far they have come since then.

However, Everton’s squad depth has been tested heavily this season, and the question will be how they would contend with that next time out.

Are Everton lacking the depth to play in Europe?

The prospect of being in Europe is exciting for several reasons, but there are many drawbacks that also need to be considered.

Most notably, the level of depth needed within a squad to ensure that they can remain competitive in domestic competitions.

As of right now, there’s certainly a case to be made that Everton don’t have that, at least not yet.

The Toffees will need a huge summer of recruitment, with their attacking line-up in need of being bolstered, as well as their defensive options.

However, should they fail to do that but succeed in their attempts to qualify for Europe, they must be aware of the potential consequences.

Tottenham and Crystal Palace set example for Everton

Crystal Palace have certainly had the better season of the two, but neither have had the campaign in the Premier League they would have liked.

And their participation in Europe has certainly played a part.

Just as Everton would next season if they fail to recruit, both Spurs and Palace have had their lack of depth exposed, which has cost them many points this season.

Everton’s depth is arguably lacking even more, and that would be the fate that awaits them next season.
