View: Moyes keeps Crystal Palace guessing on Everton's 25-app star in team news update
Everton boss David Moyes has offered a team news update ahead of the game against Crystal Palace on Sunday, confirming Idrissa Gana Gueye is yet to partake in training.
The Toffees will travel to Selhurst Park to take on the Eagles in what could be their penultimate chance to keep an opportunity of qualifying for Europe.
There has been a lot of talk about the Blues making it to a European competition for next campaign, but to do so, Moyes will need Gueye fit.
The midfielder was absent from Everton’s 3-3 thriller against Manchester City this Monday after suffering a knock in training.
However, Moyes has said Gueye is fine, but it’s hard to see how he could play after his latest comments.

David Moyes offers Idrissa Gana Gueye update
Merlin Rohl was given the nod in Gueye’s absence against Manchester City, and it remains to be seen whether or not Moyes was impressed by the German’s performance.
Gueye has played 25 games in the Premier League this season, and it’s up for debate whether or not he still has the ability to start in Everton’s midfield at the ripe age of 36.

While speaking at Everton‘s pre-match press conference for Crystal Palace this Friday, Moyes offered an update on Gueye.
The Everton boss said: “He’s fine, he’s not in training yet, but he’s fine, it’s not a serious injury. We hope he’ll be back soon.”

That’s not exactly revealing whether he will play or not, and it may be part of his tricks to keep the Eagles guessing.
It’s a little bit contradictory to see that he is “fine” despite not being on grass yet, but given how important the midfielder is to Moyes, it would be no surprise to see him hurled back into the starting eleven.
Everton have no excuses vs Crystal Palace
Everton have had an extra few more days to recover than Palace, who just played and won their Europa Conference League semi-final on Thursday, advancing through to the final, where they will play Rayo Vallecano.
This should be an advantage that Everton take with them in their stride, as other Premier League clubs seem to have had no issue playing the Eagles, despite their Europa Conference League success.
In the last three games that Oliver Glasner’s side have had in the league following a Conference League showdown, they have failed to win.
Crystal Palace’s last league three games:
- Crystal Palace vs West Ham: 0-0 Draw
- Liverpool vs Crystal Palace: 3-1 Loss
- Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace: 3-0 Loss
The Eagles are on the beach, and with no threat of relegation, they will be resting their players and preparing for the final.
This is why Moyes has no excuses to get a result, with a loss most likely crushing any remaining hopes of Europe for Everton.
