Everton will want to beat Manchester City on Monday, but doing so without a good performance from Iliman Ndiaye may be the best-case scenario.

David Moyes knows that it will take a big ask for the Toffees to beat Pep Guardiola’s title-chasing Man City, but it’s possible.

The Citizens travel to Hill Dickinson Stadium for the first time, and a win would put pressure back on Arsenal at the top of the table.

However, the Blues have their own ambitions of securing a spot in Europe, with Ndiaye key to their success.

The problem is that Man City like Ndiaye’s profile, and Guardiola has an up-close audition to watch during the game, ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Who is Iliman Ndiaye more likely to join this summer?

Man City have been backed to sign Ndiaye, and it seems to be a player that Guardiola would appreciate at the Etihad Stadium.

Reports have suggested that the Senegal international could depart Everton this summer, with multiple Premier League clubs interested, including Man City.

Arsenal and Manchester United have also been linked with the left-winger, along with Tottenham, but the latter are in no position to make a move this summer.

The issue for Everton is that a win over Man City could be a victory which keeps them well in the hunt for Europe, but a loss could spell the end for their hopes.

Ndiaye is their main outlet right now, and it’s hard to see the Blues having a good game against Guardiola’s side if he’s not on it.

However, if the 26-year-old impressed Guardiola, it would once again reinforce why Man City should go and sign him this summer.

Either one of Arsenal or Man City would have the buying power to land the former Sheffield United star, but it feels like if he were to leave Everton, it would only be for the Premier League winners.

Why Ndiaye is primed to have a good game vs Man City

Though Man City seems to be a difficult fixture on paper, their defence often has holes that the Toffees will be able to exploit.

Moyes is a master at setting his team up with a low-defensive block and hurting the opposition with counterattacks.

Ndiaye’s performance in the reverse fixture at the Etihad Stadium back in October is an example of why he is set to have a good game, regardless of whether the Toffees win or not.

Everton only created 0.81 xG from five shots in their 2-0 loss to Man City, and the only shot on target was crafted by Ndiaye.

The forward had an expected assist tally of 0.56, creating a huge opportunity for Beto in regular play, as the striker missed an effort with an xG rate of 0.60.

Ndiaye had a 50 per cent dribble success against Guardiola’s side last time, and fixtures like this allow Moyes’ star man to show off his best attributes, but that may not be good news for Evertom.
