View: Moyes pays ultimate disrespect to Everton ace, he finally looks finished

David Moyes has continued to treat Nathan Patterson harshly at Everton.

The Scot has hardly featured this season, with Jake O’Brien featuring out of position as an unorthodox right back on Merseyside.

There have been many positive performances from the Republic of Ireland international, but there are certainly drawbacks to his game as a full-back.

That hasn’t stopped Moyes from utilising him on the right side of a back four, while other options are forced onto the bench.

Patterson has felt that struggle at Everton this campaign, with Moyes’ latest action potentially going a step too far.

Nathan Patterson insulted vs Manchester City

The Blues so nearly secured victory over Manchester City last time out as Thierno Barry netted a brace to put his side 3-1 up.

Jeremy Doku netted a late stunner to seal a point in a 3-3 draw for Pep Guardiola’s side as the hosts failed to see out victory once again.

That wasn’t helped by a late counter attack by the Toffees that ultimately saw Iliman Ndiaye give the ball away while going towards goal rather than running to the corner.

Moyes also has to take some blame after making three substitutes in added time, with Patterson coming on in the 92nd minute.

That afforded him barely five minutes of action, marking his first appearance in L3 since January, and it was hardly an opportunity to prove himself.

Patterson will be scratching his head at Everton as his future on Merseyside appears to be sealed by this latest insult.

Patterson hasn’t been treated fairly at Everton

Such a short showcase against Man City meant that the Scotland international registered just two touches at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

That also came with one attempted pass and one clearance, but that is all he was able to do in such a pathetic amount of minutes.

Considering he last featured in late January against Brighton, that is hardly fair, and it is only made worse by the situation being the exact same that day.

Patterson came on with 89 minutes on the clock at the Amex and managed nine touches and three attempted crosses before Beto netted a late equaliser.

That sums up how the Scot has been treated by Moyes this season, and it points towards his future being away from Merseyside.
