View: Rangers ace must be set for revival under Rohl after latest cameo vs Aberdeen

Oliver Antman could still make a big impact at Rangers after impressing as a substitute in the 4-1 win over Aberdeen on Saturday.

Antman joined Rangers from Dutch side Go Ahead Eagles in July for a fee that could rise to £5million, and he is yet to score a single goal for the Bears.

Despite having an incredible season in the Netherlands, the Finnish international has only started six Scottish Premiership matches, and he is clearly low on confidence under Danny Rohl.

The right-winger has faced an abundance of scrutiny for his lack of fitness, as he has only registered five goal involvements in all competitions, which certainly isn’t good enough.

However, in Rangers’ win over Aberdeen, Antman showed glimpses of promise, and he is now officially Rangers’ most creative player.

Oliver Antman is Rangers’ most creative player in the Scottish Premiership

The 24-year-old was excellent in the Champions League qualifying matches against Viktoria Plzen in August, although Russell Martin then started to lose faith in him.

Mikey Moore was preferred over Antman for numerous matches across the first few months of the season, despite being hugely criticised for his below-par performances.

Since then, Moore has gone from strength to strength, while Antman has battled with injuries and a lack of game time.

Against Aberdeen, the 24-year-old came on for Thelo Aasgaard in the 72nd minute and was a bright spark as he created two chances at Ibrox.

According to Sofascore, he has created 3.01 chances per 90 minutes in the Scottish Premiership, which is more than any other player in the division.

With 1.74 successful dribbles and 6.33 touches in the opposition box per 90 minutes, he clearly has a lot of potential to excel, and Rohl may notice that as the season reaches its climax.

Of course, the Finnish winger faces a lot of competition, but with three goal contributions in 569 minutes of league football, there’s no reason why he can’t force his way into the starting lineup.

Why Oliver Antman has the ability to start for Rangers

For the early months of the season, Djeidi Gassama locked down the left wing spot with his impressive performances, which left Antman and Moore to fight it out on the opposite flank.

However, the former Go Ahead Eagles man has dropped down in the pecking order, but he clearly has the ability.

Last season, he registered 21 goal contributions in the Eredivisie and helped his side win the Dutch Cup, their first trophy in 92 years.

While he hasn’t hit those heights in Govan, there is clearly a player in there that is waiting to be unlocked.

And his creative bursts in the Scottish Premiership could spell promising things for the rest of his Rangers career.
