View: Rangers flop may have been handed platform to rebuild career after announcement today
Rabbi Matondo has been called up to the Wales squad for the upcoming international break, despite having featured just three times for Rangers this season.
Matondo was tipped for big things by many people before his move to Rangers in 2022, where things just haven’t worked out for him at all.
The 25-year-old spent part of the previous campaign out on loan at Hannover, where he made just 10 appearances, before returning to Ibrox in the summer.
Since then, Matondo has played next to no part in Rangers’ hunt for the Scottish Premiership title with just one league appearance, and yet his call-up to the Wales squad could hand him a much-needed lifeline.

Wales call-up could reignite fire in Rabbi Matondo
Perhaps an unpopular statement, but there is still a player in Matondo somewhere, but the lack of game time over the last few years has prevented him from showing his quality.
In his second season in Scotland, the winger scored six goals and registered three assists, despite often being utilised as a substitute.
Like many at Ibrox, Matondo is a player who thrives off confidence, and with just three appearances this season, that is certainly at an all-time low now.

But if he can get some minutes on international duty and make the most of them, he could make somewhat of a case to Danny Rohl for the final games of the season that he can have an impact.
Djeidi Gasaama concerns could give Matondo hope
Matondo will want to be playing football at his age, and he will certainly still hope to have a career at Ibrox.
And with Djeidi Gassama failing to perform as of late, that could be his opportunity.
However, this will all stem from his ability to show high quality when away with Wales, with it unknown as to how much access to gametime he will get, given the lack of it at the domestic level.
Wales face Bosnia in a World Cup qualifier on 26 March, and the 25-year-old will have to impress in training for his chance to feature.
