View: Rangers may want to consider a reunion as ex-Auchenhowie star shines abroad
Rangers should be watching Robbie Ure star in Swedish football with major regret, and should give thought to bringing him back to Glasgow.
The now-22-year-old joined Rangers as a youngster, developing through the Auchenhowie academy system.
Ure then penned a contract extension in 2021 to remain with Gers through until the summer of 2023, before ultimately rejecting a new deal when the terms of that contract expired.
He made just three competitive first-team appearances at Ibrox before leaving in May 2023, eventually joining Belgian giants Anderlecht in September of that same year.
Since then, the striker moved to Swedish side Sirius in March 2025, and his form for the Uppsala-based outfit will surely be cause for Rangers transfer regret.
🚨 RANGERS TRANSFER UPDATE 🚨
The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.
How has ex-Rangers talent Robbie Ure fared for Sirius?
Ure admitted he wanted to leave Rangers when he did so in May 2023, citing the wish for a new challenge after failing to really break into the first-team plans with his boyhood club.
Still only 19 at the time of his Gers exit, the Glasgow-born forward clearly backed himself and felt that he was ready to kickstart his senior career, and he’s been proven right.

Albeit, it didn’t work out for him at Anderlecht either in that regard, as he only made one competitive first-team appearance there, spending the majority of his time turning out for their Futures (reserve) team.
However, Swedish outfit Sirius have been greatly rewarded for taking a chance on Ure in March of last year, as he’s now really started to show what he can do in the senior game.
He scored 16 times and provided five assists in 35 total appearances for them in the 2025 season, and has started the 2026 campaign in great form too, with three goals and an assist from his opening four appearances.
On top of that, he also provided five goals and one assist in Sirius’ Svenska Cupen (Swedish Cup) this year too, so he’s actually already one nine goals in 2026 so far.
As per Sofascore, he’s recording a goal conversion of 30 per cent in Allsvenskan (Swedish top flight) this season, whilst also averaging 2.5 shots per game and 40.5 touches per 90.
Ure has won 54 per cent of his ground duels and recovers 3.3 balls per game, whilst registering a passing accuracy of 72 per cent and a long ball accuracy of 67 per cent respectively.
In 2025 meanwhile, he posted a goal conversion rate of 17 per cent, took 2.1 shots per game, played 1.5 key passes per match and scored all 11 of his league goals from inside the box.
Rangers could have strike duo of the future with Ure and Chermiti
Now, it’s true that Rangers do have solid depth and the striker position already in place at Ibrox, with Youssef Chermiti, Bojan Miovski and Ryan Naderi all good options to have.
However, Danny Rohl offered a glimpse into a potential tactical change to a 4-4-2 against Falkirk, which if that’s how he wants to play moving forward, then bringing Ure back to Glasgow shouldn’t see him get lost in the pecking order.
In addition to that, both Chermiti and Miovski have blown hot and cold this season, whilst Naderi may be more suited to an attacking midfield role rather than as a true number nine.
Therefore, Ure shouldn’t view Rangers’ current options as an overwhelming amount of competition either, and so if the Glaswegian was open to it, Ibrox transfer chiefs should definitely give serious consideration to a reunion this summer.
