View: The Friedkin Group could come under fire soon as Everton strategy starts to falls flat
Everton‘s success rate with their summer signings does not make for great reading.
David Moyes‘ side spent more than £100million recruiting the likes of Tyler Dibling, Thierno Barry, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Nine first-team players were signed, seven of whom were outfield players.
In the first few months of the season, it became clear that Manchester City loanee Jack Grealish and summer recruit Dewsbury-Hall were excellent acquisitions.
But on the other side of the coin, Dibling, Barry, Adam Aznou, and Merlin Rohl have not exactly set the world alight.
If they do secure European football next season, Everton and The Friedkin Group have to do better in the transfer market.

Did Everton sign more duds than stars?
Everton signed teenage winger Dibling from Southampton for a fee worth up to £42m last summer, but the Toffees haven’t seen much end product this season.
Barry joined from Villarreal for £27m, with the striker a long way off hitting double figures over the course of 33 Premier League matches.
Dewsbury-Hall has been an undoubted success with 13 goal contributions, but overall, there may have been more misses than hits.
Everton’s big-money buys last summer Tyler Dibling 14 league appearances, no goals Thierno Barry 33 league appearances, six goals Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall 26 league appearances, seven goals, six assists
Dewsbury-Hall could cost Everton up to £29m, but so far, that is proving to be something of a bargain.
Grealish was also shaping up to be a shrewd loan recruit, thanks to providing two goals and six assists, before injury ended his season in January.
Summer recruit Carlos Alcaraz has one assist from 16 league games, while Rohl is yet to provide a goal contribution in 12 matches.
Aznou still awaits his Premier League debut, while Tom King and Mark Travers were signed as backup goalkeepers.
Dewsbury-Hall was once again involved in the goals in Everton’s agonising 2-1 loss to Liverpool on Sunday, but more is needed from those new faces around him.
The Friedkin Group will need to up their game ahead of the 2026-27 season in the transfer department.
They did take a risk with signing some youngsters, who may need to be given more time, but the fact that Moyes isn’t playing the likes of Dibling, Rohl, Aznou, and more suggests he is not convinced at all.
Everton have big fight on their hands for Europe
Before the Liverpool game, hopeful chatter was spreading of Everton qualifying for the Champions League.
But after Everton’s gut-wrenching 2-1 loss to Liverpool at Hill Dickinson Stadium, they face an uphill struggle to secure any form of European football.
Everton are now down to 10th after being leapfrogged by Bournemouth and Brighton, while Sunderland and Fulham are just behind them, too.
Remarkably, they are just one point behind Chelsea in sixth, as the race for Europe looks to go down to the wire. A result at West Ham on Saturday is surely a must if Moyes’ team want to be back on the European stage again.
