View: Tottenham penalty stat gives Tudor plenty of reason to be unhappy
Tottenham have remarkably yet to be awarded a penalty in the Premier League this season.
The Lilywhites have been on the wrong side of several refereeing decisions since Igor Tudor replaced Thomas Frank in North London.
During Tudor’s first game in charge, Spurs’ 4-1 defeat to Arsenal, Randal Kolo Muani had a goal disallowed for an apparent shove on Gabriel.
However, when Raul Jimenez appeared to push Radu Dragusin in the build-up to Harry Wilson’s opener for Fulham on Sunday afternoon, there was no action taken by the officials.
Tottenham went on to lose the game 2-1, with Tudor criticising the lack of consistency after the full-time whistle.
Tottenham’s penalty woes continue under Igor Tudor
It has been a woeful season for Tottenham, but their efforts haven’t been helped by some of the officiating seen in recent weeks.
The North London side are desperate for a bit of luck, which could help end their horrific run of form in the Premier League.
However, according to Squawka, Tottenham are one of only two sides that still haven’t been awarded a top-flight penalty this season.
Aston Villa are the other Premier League team that have yet to be given a spot-kick this term.
Spurs have taken three penalties in the Champions League, and have a 100 per cent conversion rate from 12 yards, with Richarlison, Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons all finding the back of the net.
Given his current grievances with Premier League referees, though, Tudor will be less than impressed with the lack of penalties Tottenham have been awarded domestically.
Tottenham must take some blame for penalty decisions
Of course, part of the reason that Tottenham are struggling to win penalties is the fact that they spend so little time in the opposition box.
Across Frank’s tenure at Spurs, they were abysmal going forward, and often went full games with only a couple of shots on target.
The likes of Chelsea and Brentford, who have been awarded seven and six Premier League spot-kicks respectively this term, create far more opportunities.
Rank Team Penalties awarded 1 Chelsea 7 2 Brentford 6 3 Newcastle 5 20= Aston Villa 0 20= Tottenham 0
There have been a number of questionable refereeing decisions regarding the Lilywhites, but penalties come with the territory, and Tottenham are simply not good enough in attack.
