Watford next manager: Liam Rosenior odds tumble in new development

Watford are on the hunt for yet another manager this summer after Ed Still was sacked less than three months into his reign.

The Hornets only managed to win three out of 15 Championship matches under his management, as they fell from challenging the playoffs to end up 16^th come the campaign’s end.

Now, Watford are preparing for a fifth straight season in the second tier, as they look to finally appoint a manager to guide them back to the Premier League.

One name who has been linked is Liam Rosenior, who stands at 6/1 to take over, with Oddschecker on 8 May confirming that his odds have been slashed.

Rosenior was only sacked by Chelsea last month, but could now make a quick return to management.

Despite his awful end to his Chelsea reign, Rosenior is not short of options this summer if he opts to return to the dugout quickly.

The manager has recently been linked to the Crystal Palace post, with Oliver Glasner set to depart in the summer.

However, Watford could prove to be a different challenge, with the club struggling to hold down a manager since their return to the second tier.

Since their return to the Championship, the Hornets have not even got into the playoffs, with their highest finish being 11^th in the 2022-23 campaign.

Therefore, Rosenior would face a massive task turning this tide, in what could be a shock appointment if Watford pulls it off.

However, it remains to be seen if the manager would be prepared to dip back down into the Championship just weeks after coaching Chelsea.

Who else is linked to the Watford job?

Currently, the bookies favourite for the Watford job is Erol Bulut at 2/1. The 51-year-old has mainly managed clubs in Turkey, but did spend just over a season at Cardiff City between 2023 and 2024.

Following this is Russell Martin at 5/1, who continues to search for his first job since his dreadful reign at Rangers.

Scott Parker is yet to be ruled out at 6/1 after recently being sacked by Burnley after their relegation to the Championship was confirmed.

Portsmouth manager John Mousinho is also priced at 6/1 after continuing to impress on the South Coast.

A potential outsider is Marti Cifuentes at 8/1 after his failed spell at Leicester City saw him sacked early this season.
