Cristian Romero most likely exit destination emerges already one day after remarkable Tottenham rant
Cristian Romero’s future at Tottenham is in serious jeopardy.
Romero slammed the current situation at Tottenham, labelling it as “disgraceful” due to a lack of senior options available for Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City.
Romero was taken off at half-time by Thomas Frank due to illness, but the centre-back insisted he would have been fine to stay on to help the team.
The club captain is clearly unhappy in N17, and it’s only a matter of time before he is snapped up by a club with a lot more ambition.
Cristian Romero set to leave Tottenham at the end of the season
Romero previously called out the board on 8 January after Spurs lost 3-2 to Bournemouth in the Premier League.
There is a lot of unrest at Tottenham, and one of their best players speaking out so publicly will only lead to one thing.
Journalist Gaston Edul, who works for Argentinian media outlet TyC Sports, reported via X on Tuesday that the 27-year-old will definitely leave in the summer.
He has gained interest from Spain and another league, and a formal offer was close to being made in the winter transfer window.
Real Madrid are interested in Romero, and it was previously reported that they were prepared to offer around £69.4million to sign the 27-year-old, but held off on launching the bid as manager Xabi Alonso was sacked the next day.
However, as per this latest update, everything points to Spain being Romero’s next destination this summer.
As shown in the Sofascore graphic below, Romero is one of the best centre-backs in England, and he would ordinarily be a tough man to replace.

However, Luka Vuskovic is certainly ready to step up for Tottenham after impressing on loan at German side Hamburg.

Why Luka Vuskovic is the perfect replacement for Romero
He is developing into a generational talent, with his overwhelming success in Germany making him one of the best young centre-backs in the world.
At just 18 years of age, Vuskovic is incredibly dominant in the air and possesses the same qualities as Romero.
Vuskovic has exceeded expectations at Hamburg, and he etched his name into club history after scoring their first Bundesliga goal in 2,688 days during the 2-1 win over Heidenheim on 20 September.
Stat Vuskovic Appearances 17 Goals 4 Pass accuracy 85% Clearances per game 8.5 Recoveries per game 4.5
Tottenham already have a host of promising centre-backs, with Kota Takai and Ashley Phillips also set to be in contention to fight for their place in the first team next season.
However, Vuskovic is currently a level above, and Spurs won’t have to spend millions of pounds in the transfer market to add a top-quality centre-back to their ranks.
The answer to replacing Romero is right in front of them.
