Ex-Gers star shares 'must-win' scenario that favours Rangers over Hearts in title race

Kris Boyd has suggested that this weekend’s Scottish Premiership results could end up giving Rangers major momentum ahead of their top-of-the-table clash against Hearts in game week 35.

The Bears take on Motherwell in the first game after the split, where a win would leave them four games away from completing a dramatic turnaroud.

Gers have been climbing the table under Danny Rohl and are unbeaten in their last 16 Scottish Premiership games.

Hearts currently sit top of the Scottish Premiership with a single point separating them and Rangers in second, as Celtic sit three points from first in third place.

It’s all to play for in the last five games, and Boyd believes Rangers won’t slip up from here on out.

Kris Boyd suggests pressure could be on for Hearts vs Rangers

Rangers host Motherwell at Ibrox an hour and a half before Hearts play Hibernian at Easter Road in what will be a feisty affair.

Hibs will be out to ruin the Jambos’ season, and what could put even more pressure on Derek McInnes’ side would be if Rangers were to have a win wrapped up before the current league leaders play their game.

By the time Hearts kick off, the Bears could be top of the Scottish Premiership, and that could hurt Hearts’ display, right in time before they host Gers the following game week.

While speaking on The Scottish Sun SPORT, Boyd revealed how the scenarios could add pressure onto Hearts, which only helps Rangers in their bid to win the league.

Boyd said: “Glasgow’s big two have to go before Hearts kick off. Rangers, I think, will have a little more of a difficult one against Motherwell.

“I think it’s safe to say that Rangers and Celtic will say ‘we will take care of our business’, and then there’s a good chance that Hearts slip up. You feel as if this weekend can have a big impact on what happens next weekend.

The ex-Gers star then went on to jokingly admit that Rangers will not slip up, suggesting that the Bears are in for a title-winning finale to this campaign.

Win at Hearts would breed fearless Rangers nature

A win over Motherwell is expected, with Rohl hoping to have as many players fully fit for the game ahead of the run-in.

Even if Hearts were to draw against Hibernian, it would be a result that would be celebrated in Glasgow, especially by the Gers if they beat Motherwell.

Rangers would then travel to Tynecastle Park on Monday 4 May, where a win would be arguably the biggest three points of the season.

You could use many reasons to justify why it would be the greatest feat of the campaign; however, it should then surely give the Bears a fearless feeling that they could then go on to beat Celtic away from home.

The Hoops won’t forget the last time they played Gers at Celtic Park, as Rohl’s side know how to get it done.

It’s all if’s, but’s, and maybes at this point; however, a win over Motherwell is where the success could start.
