'I'm told...' - Insider reveals Kobbie Mainoo's stance on agreeing Man United deal
Kobbie Mainoo is now open to signing a new contract at Man United after playing an increased role in the starting XI under Michael Carrick.
Mainoo started as Man United beat Fulham 3-2 thanks to a dramatic late goal from Benjamin Sesko at Old Trafford and is seen as a valuable asset.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Carrick‘s decision-making and man-management skills are to thank for getting the 20-year-old on side.
Mainoo had been left disenchanted at Old Trafford after being made aware of the club’s plans to cash in on him amid interest from Chelsea during the summer.
Under Ruben Amorim‘s guidance, the England international started just one game all season, but has now played a key role in three consecutive wins under Carrick.

Kobbie Mainoo likely to agree Man United contract
Brown warned Football Insider in December that Mainoo would push to leave Man United after the “crazy” way he has been treated by the club of late.
Now, the former scout has insisted he is open to extending his stay beyond his current contract’s 2027 expiry date with new talks set to take place.
“Kobbie Mainoo was treated terribly by the hierarchy at United,” Brown told Football Insider.
“It’s been brushed under the carpet a bit recently, but he was told the club were going to listen to offers for him because they thought they could make some money.
“Then, after they didn’t sell him, Ruben Amorim massively devalued his qualities and ability and threw him under the bus massively.
“At that stage, there was no way he was going to sign a new contract.
“Now, I’m told he probably will do and they’re hopeful they can reach an agreement because he’s come back into the team and is playing a big role.
“The change in management with bringing Michael Carrick in has a lot to do with that, they say good things about his man management and those sorts of things.
“Mainoo’s attitude since coming back into the side has been brilliant and I hope he does extend his stay because he’s a fantastic player, but don’t thank the hierarchy for it, thank the management and praise the player for how he has responded.”
Jadon Sancho ready to agree Man United departure
Mainoo was not the only player being pushed out of Man United under Amorim’s tenure, with Jadon Sancho also bombed out by the former manager.
However, Sancho is not expected to return to Man United following his loan spell at Aston Villa and will be allowed to leave when his contract expires.
Despite the imminent arrival of a new manager following Amorim’s departure and Carrick’s interim spell, his situation is unlikely to change.

Brown told Football Insider on 2 February that Sancho is prepared to return to the Bundesliga as he assesses his options ahead of the summer window.
Sancho remains highly thought-of in Germany, where there is a belief that his style of play is better-suited to the face of the game after his struggles in the Premier League.
