Leeds have perfect chance to sign the new Mohamed Salah before transfer window slams shut on Monday

Leeds United are attempting to bolster Daniel Farke’s attack in the hours before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Along with several other clubs, Leeds were strong contenders for Jorgen Strand Larsen, but Crystal Palace appear to have won that race.

The Whites are attempting to provide stronger competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has suffered from several injury issues in the past.

Joel Piroe has been constantly linked with a move away from Leeds this month, but the striker’s exit is unlikely to be sanctioned without the arrival of a replacement.

Leeds were favourites to move for Troy Parrott, but West Ham now appear to have moved ahead in the race for the Ireland international.

Leeds ready to move for Mohamed Amoura amid club announcement

Leeds are reportedly interested in a move for Wolfsburg attacker Mohamed Amoura in the closing days of the window.

The 25-year-old has scored seven goals and provided two assists in 17 Bundesliga games this season, but he found himself out of the squad on Friday.

A club statement before Wolfsburg’s 1-0 loss to FC Koln confirmed that Amoura was left out of the squad for disciplinary reasons.

While the cause behind the decision is yet unknown, it does provide a potential situation to be taken advantage of.

Nabil Djellit reported on Friday night that Leeds are interested in Amoura, and they have been for some time.

However, if not for a dramatic twist in the final hours of the window, the Algeria international is likely to continue at Wolfsburg until the summer.

This season, though, dramatic twists appear to be Leeds’ speciality. With the opportunity available, decision-makers at Elland Road may want to make a big statement.

Why Amoura is being dubbed the next Mohamed Salah

Along with a first name and a birthplace lying in North Africa, Amoura and Mohamed Salah share a similar style.

With a similar gait, the Wolfsburg striker could be mistaken for a right-footed version of the Liverpool forward.

The Algerian likes to cut inside like Salah, often targeting the far corner, and to great effect. Like the Premier League legend, Amoura is incredibly efficient in front of goal.

The 25-year-old caught the eyes of the Bundesliga when he scored 17 goals in 23 league appearances for Union Saint-Gilloise in the 2023-24 season, and much of Europe was alerted after his first campaign in Germany.

In just 31 Bundesliga appearances, Amoura scored 10 goals and provided nine assists, and for a team that finished in the bottom half.

With that form continuing this season, Leeds have a decision to make. Securing a move for the Algeria international would mark a stunning coup, which could well bank them millions in future profit.

To make that happen, transfer chiefs will need to throw caution to the wind and seriously push the boat out.
