'One hundred per cent' - Scots journo shares Rangers transfer verdict, player 'looks miles off'

Rangers may have to look for another striker despite Bojan Miovski scoring a hat-trick against Annan Athletic in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup on Friday.

Ibrox hosted Wullie Gibson’s team on 16 January, with Kieran Dowell and Thelo Aasgaard also getting on the scoresheet in the Gers’ 5-0 victory.

Andreas Skov Olsen was presented as Danny Rohl’s new signing prior to kickoff in the fourth round of the tournament, with the Light Blues surely bolstering their attack with the Denmark international.

The North Macedonia international scored the first hat-trick of his senior career against the William Hill League Two side, but the Glaswegian outfit may still have a transfer priority before the 2nd February deadline.

Rangers need new striker as Bojan Miovski not good enough

Scott Burns believes the Gers undoubtedly need a new number nine in the winter transfer window.

The Scottish journalist doesn’t think any of the current centre-forwards at Ibrox are capable of scoring consistently for the Light Blues throughout the season.

While Miovski did find the back of the net three times against Annan, the quality of opposition was, respectively, not the greatest.

Writing in the Daily Record on 19 January, Burns said, “One hundred per cent they need a striker. None of their forwards look capable of hitting 20 or 30 goals a season. Yes, Miovski scored three against Annan… but it was Annan. He looks miles off being a Rangers player.”

Youssef Chermiti is slowly finding his feet under Rohl, but the Portugal Under-21 international has yet to convince many fans in Govan.

The Glaswegian outfit are hoping to put up a tougher fight for the William Hill Premiership title until the end of the campaign, and a reliable goalscorer will surely give the German manager a major boost in G51.

Ibrox hierarchy have striker transfer at their doorstep for Danny Rohl

Rangers are keeping tabs on Hibernian forward Kieron Bowie, and have asked to be kept informed about the 23-year-old.

The Scotsman has caught the eye of several people with his performances in the league this season, and it’s no surprise to see the Gers monitoring his progress.

In 21 William Hill Premiership appearances in the current campaign, Bowie has scored eight goals and provided three assists.

Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises may have their striker target nearby in Edinburgh if they’re looking to bolster the Glaswegian outfit’s attack in the coming weeks.
