Rangers in pursuit of English-born centre-mid contracted to Serie A club - report
Rangers are already making moves in the market as they look to reinforce their squad ahead of a title push.
Andrew Cavenagh is expected to back Danny Rohl in the January transfer market and allow the German to add some quality to his ranks.
Rangers beat St Mirren 2-1 on Tuesday evening, and are now just six points adrift of table-topping Hearts in the Scottish Premiership.
If the Gers want to make a real challenge for the title though, then they will have to address their lack of depth in midfield.
Rangers make move for Emil Bohinen
According to Italian outlet La Nazione, Rangers are in talks with midfielder Emil Bohinen, who is currently on loan at Venezia from Serie A club Genoa.
Bohinen, who was born in Derby, has only featured eight times in the Italian second division for Venezia this season, but is highly rated across Europe.
Genoa and Venezia have reportedly agreed to terminate the Norwegian’s loan deal early, meaning he will be available to Rohl’s side in the January window.
The Gers are joined in the race for Bohinen by Serie A outfit Spezia, as well as several Eredivisie clubs.
The 26-year-old spent last season at Frosinone in Serie B, making 12 appearances as they avoided the relegation play-off by just a single point.

Emil Bohinen has been linked with Premier League side
Bohinen has been on trial with Sheffield United in the past, training with them while they were in the Premier League back in 2020.
Around that same time, the midfielder was also a target for Leeds United, and he reportedly visited the West Yorkshire club during his trip to England.
The midfielder was playing for Norwegian side Stabaek when he was receiving interest from Leeds and Sheffield United, but a move to Elland Road or Bramall Lane never materialised.
Bohinen was instead signed by CSKA Moscow in February 2021, before joining Italian side Salernitana, who were in Serie A at the time.
Rangers fans will be hoping that Bohinen’s familiarity with British culture helps him settle into Glasgow life quicker, if he does indeed make the switch to Ibrox this January.
