Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford only wants to move to Barcelona this summer despite talks over a permanent deal stalling in recent weeks.

Rashford has shown flashes of his former self while on loan at Barcelona this season as they march towards a second successive La Liga title.

The Catalan giants do have the option to buy him for around £26million in the summer, but are currently unsure over whether they want to pay such a fee.

Barca would prefer to loan Rashford for a second season, and as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, his main priority is to stay at the Camp Nou for at least another campaign.

Man United’s transfer plans will revolve around getting the last of the outcasts out of Old Trafford for good, with Rasmus Hojlund and Jadon Sancho also set to leave permanently.

Rashford has registered 12 goals and 10 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions this season, with more game time likely in the coming weeks in Lamine Yamal’s absence.

Newcastle have been linked with a surprise swoop for the England star this summer, but he only wants to return to Barca by any means possible.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Rashford’s still got his heart set on this move to Barcelona. It’s just Barcelona trying to renegotiate that potential move for him.

“They want to keep Rashford on loan for a second season, rather than paying that agreed £26million buy clause in his contract.

“Obviously nothing’s been agreed between Barcelona and Man United, so it’s hit a bit of a stumbling block, but Barca would like to sign Rashford, preferably on loan.”

Mason Mount will not be leaving United despite injury concerns

United’s decision on Michael Carrick will dictate the futures of several players, as he is set to remain loyal to certain stars, where a different new boss may have other ideas.

Carrick has handed Mount a route back into the Red Devils’ plans in recent weeks following his full recovery from a muscle injury, after he featured off the bench against Chelsea last time out.

He has been linked with a move away ahead of the summer, but sources have exclusively told Football Insider that United will not sell Mount despite his troubled injury record.

Carrick remains the favourite to be appointed permanently and will favour keeping Mount ahead of next season if he lands the job full-time.
