Kieran Maguire 'certain' of £250m+ Everton 2026-27 revenue increase - it's 'double-edged'

Kieran Maguire “certainly” thinks Everton‘s revenue will be in excess of £250million next season if they qualify for European football.

David Moyes‘ side are currently sitting eighth in the Premier League table, which could possibly be high enough to qualify for the UEFA Conference League next season.

However, to be sure of taking a European tour in 2026-27, Everton will need to finish higher than that.

That definitely looks achievable for this Toffees team too, with Moyes’ men a mere two points behind sixth-placed Chelsea, and it’s just a further point to Liverpool in fifth respectively.

Everton’s finances look to be the healthiest they’ve been in some time, and they could now be set to bathe in even more riches should they enjoy a strong end to the season.

💰 EVERTON FINANCE HUB 💰

What did Kieran Maguire say about Everton’s revenue increase?

Everton’s recent financial accounts were very positive, with the Club posting significant turnover increases as well as sizeable decreases in losses.

The move from Goodison Park to Hill Dickinson Stadium has worked wonders for the Toffees’ coffers, and with player spending being managed well, they look set for an ambitious summer of recruitment ahead.

And, qualifying for European football would open up a whole new door of financial opportunity for Everton too, with an increase in games, TV money and gate receipts.

Speaking to Royal Blue on YouTube, Maguire was confident that should Everton win a spot in European football for 2026-27, then it would have a largely positive impact on their finances.

“I think it’s going to be incremental and organic,” Maguire said regarding Everton’s expected financial increases going forward.

“If Everton get into Europe for next season, I think we could certainly go in excess of £250m. I’d expect matchday income to certainly double.

“I suspect the Club will be targeting the thick end of £50m because, not only is there increased capacity, but there is a greater emphasis on the corporate and hospitality sales at individual matches.”

Clearly then, Everton will be doing everything they can to make European football a reality for 2026-27, as Toffees supporters eagerly anticipate the thought of following their team across the continent.

Why Everton may not want Conference League football

So, European football of any kind will work out better for Everton’s finances? Well, according to Maguire, not necessarily.

Continuing in his interview with Royal Blue, the football finance expert outlines why if Everton are to qualify for European football for next season, it may not be the best thing for them financially.

In particular, this applies to qualifying for the Conference League instead of the Europa League, with Maguire saying: “This is where it becomes a bit of a double-edged sword.

“If they qualify for the Conference League; I was out with another club not all that long ago, and they said: ‘we don’t want to qualify, we reckon we’ll be worse off financially because we have to abide by UEFA’s rules as well as the Premier League and it’ll have a negative impact on our budget’.

“But there is certainly a step up as far as Europa League qualification. You get twice as much money in the Europa League as you do in the Conference League.

“If you qualify for a UEFA competition, under the UEFA rules you will be able to spend 70 per cent of your revenues on player costs.

“But if you’re not in Europe, and instead you have to apply the Premier League rules, in the Premier League you can spend 85 per cent.

“So it’s 85 per cent of a slightly smaller number because you’ve not got the benefit of European revenues, but when you do the sums, you’re better off.”
