Luke Shaw axed as Benjamin Sesko call made: Man United predicted XI vs Newcastle

Manchester United are looking to continue their charge for Champions League qualification with a win at Newcastle on Wednesday evening.

Michael Carrick has transformed United’s fortunes since his arrival as interim manager until the end of the season in January.

The Red Devils have won six and drawn one of his seven games in charge, and now occupy third place in the Premier League with 10 matches left to play.

Second-half strikes from Bruno Fernandes and Benjamin Sesko saw them run out 2-1 winners over Crystal Palace last time out, with a trip to St James’ Park now on the agenda in midweek.

Luke Shaw suffered an injury against Palace that could see him ruled out, and Football Insider have now predicted the starting eleven that Carrick could name on Tyneside.

Man United predicted XI vs Newcastle

Senne Lammens has been a safe pair of hands for the Red Devils and will retain his starting place in midweek, with Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro also set to do the same.

Shaw’s chequered injury history has caught up with him once more over the last few days, and Noussair Mazraoui looks set to replace him from the off at left-back against Newcastle.

Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro have formed a fine partnership in midfield under Carrick that looks likely to continue, with star man Bruno Fernandes in front of them in the number 10 spot.

After Carrick’s decision to start Sesko against Palace paid off, it does look as if both Bryan Mbeumo and Mateus Cunha will keep their places on the wings ahead of Amad Diallo.

Sesko will surely be trusted to lead the line as he aims to continue his fine form, with four decisive strikes in his last five matches.

Sesko wants Carrick to stay at Man United past this season

Carrick has worked wonders in his six weeks as United boss so far, and a strong end to the campaign would see him thrust even further into the frame to be handed the job permanently.

The Old Trafford hierarchy are understandably keeping their cards close to their chest right now, but it seems as if numerous members of the squad are already clear on who they want as their next full-time boss.

Football Insider have revealed this week that Sesko wants Carrick to get the permanent job, and he is among several others who are hoping for the same outcome.

Another goal and another win against Newcastle would surely only strengthen the Slovenian striker’s stance as United aim to consolidate themselves in the Premier League top five.
