Man City's Kalvin Phillips edges closer to joining Championship giants in last-gasp deal
Sheffield United have entered talks with Man City over a move to sign out-of-favour midfielder Kalvin Phillips on loan.
Phillips has failed to make an impact at Man City since he joined them from his boyhood club Leeds for an initial £42million back in 2022.
The defensive midfielder has made just 31 appearances under Pep Guardiola in the three years since his move, and he spent time out on loan at West Ham in 2023-24 before moving to newly-promoted Ipswich Town for the 2024-25 campaign.
He has played just once so far in 2025-26, and Football Insider revealed prior to January that Wolves were interested in a deal to sign Phillips this month, alongside Everton.
Sources have also told Football Insider that Phillips is a target for Burnley, as well as Wolves, but he could well be on his way to the Championship before the 7pm transfer deadline.

Sheffield United in talks with Man City to sign Phillips
The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath has reported that Sheffield United are progressing in talks to sign Phillips on loan until the end of the season.
Phillips will be allowed to leave City in the final hours of the window, and Blades boss Chris Wilder has made a move to bring him to Bramall Lane to bolster his injury-hit midfield ranks.
He has only featured once for Pep Guardiola’s side this season, and is currently nursing his own injury problem, but is expected to return to full fitness soon and could well be a United player by tomorrow.
