Exclusive: Tottenham's owners could buy out Daniel Levy as new talks revealed

The Lewis family could be open to purchasing Daniel Levy’s shares in Tottenham’s majority ownership group if a suitable buyer isn’t found, sources have told Football Insider.

Tottenham confirmed Levy stepped down as executive chairman last September after spending 24 years in the role.

However, Levy still has an indirect investment in Tottenham due to his 29.88 per cent share in ENIC, which owns 86.91 per cent of the club.

Bloomberg reported on 30 January the former Spurs chief is in talks to sell his stake in the British investment company to a consortium that includes Hong Kong businessman Ng Wing Fai.

The news outlet said the discussions revolve around a £1billion deal for Levy’s stake, with most of the capital coming from Asian business tycoons.

How Tottenham owners feel about Daniel Levy deal

The remaining 70.12 per cent of ENIC is owned by former Tottenham owner Joe Lewis’s family trust.

Lewis’s daughter Vivienne, his son Charles and Nick Beucher, the husband of Vivienne’s daughter, have become more actively involved in the running of Spurs over the past few months.

Sources say there are question marks around whether the consortium in talks with Levy is the right group to come in alongside the Lewis family.

While the Lewis family could be open to agreeing a deal to purchase Levy’s stake, it is believed they would be willing to work alongside new investors who can help them take the club forward.

Levy had been trying to secure new investment in Tottenham before his departure was confirmed last year.

However, no such deal materialised, with Spurs’ owners believed to be valuing the club at around £4bn.

How Tottenham move has raised questions around Levy relationship

The relationship between the Lewis family and Levy appears to have broken down in recent times.

Bloomberg reported in December Tottenham are conducting an accounting review into Levy’s tenure as part-owner and custodian of the club.

While it is believed there is “no indication of wrongdoing”, the review is understood to cover all commercial aspects of Spurs’ operation.

Deloitte’s 2026 Money League has revealed Tottenham’s revenue stood at £580m last season, with that figure boosted by £284m of commercial income.

Levy’s departure hasn’t improved the mood among the supporters after a group of Tottenham fans protested against their owners before the defeat against West Ham last month.

Thomas Frank’s side currently sit 14th in the Premier League table, but they are into the last 16 of the Champions League.
