‘First daughter’ – What Super Eagles star Bruno Onyemaechi named his child with Ines Fontes
Super Eagles star Bruno Onyemaechi recently announced the birth of his first child, and he has now revealed the baby’s name and sex, Soccernet.ng reports.
Recall that the Olympiacos star played the full 90 minutes in the Super Eagles' 2-1 win over Iran last week.
However, he left the camp just hours later to join his partner, Ines Fontes, who had given birth to their first child.
The 26-year-old left-back initially shared pictures on his social media pages to mark the milestone but stopped short of revealing the child's name or sex at the time.
However, on Tuesday, his partner, Fontes, shared heartwarming photos of herself and their newborn. She captioned the post: “Isabella Adanna Fontes Onyemaechi.”
“I was scared. I doubted myself. It was hard… harder than I ever imagined. But I did it,” she wrote. “And I could never have done it without him (Bruno Onyemaechi) by my side… every second, holding me when I felt like falling. You were my strength. My calm. My home. And now… we have her. Our greatest blessing. Our daughter.”

From Ines Fontes' caption, it is confirmed that the couple has welcomed a baby girl named Isabella Adanna Fontes Onyemaechi.
While Isabella is a name of Italian and Spanish origin, Adanna is a popular Nigerian name originating from the Igbo-speaking part of the country. Traditionally given to first daughters, the name translates to “father’s daughter” or “the daughter of her father.”
By choosing this name, Onyemaechi—who hails from the South-Eastern part of Nigeria—has clearly shown that he remains deeply connected to his roots.
Based on his recent social media activity, the Super Eagles defender is clearly overjoyed with the arrival of his first daughter.
He will be looking to carry that positive energy back to his club, Olympiacos, as they push to defend their Greek Super League title.
