Tottenham insiders approached for Igor Tudor sack comment, response is telling

Igor Tudor’s job could be on the line if Tottenham lose to Crystal Palace on Thursday night.

Speaking on talkSPORT, journalist Alex Crook said nobody at Tottenham had come out and said “no” when asked if a Palace defeat could spell the end for Tudor at the club.

The Croatian took over from the sacked Thomas Frank last month but so far he has overseen disappointing defeats to Arsenal (4-1) and Fulham (2-1).

Following West Ham’s win at Fulham and Nottingham Forest’s draw away at Manchester City on Wednesday, Spurs are just one point above the relegation zone.

Heading into a crucial clash with Palace at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, speculation is mounting that Tudor may be given the boot after just a matter of weeks in the role.

‘Whispers’ mount over Igor Tudor’s uncertain Tottenham future

Former Juventus boss Tudor was appointed as Tottenham’s interim manager until the end of the season on 14 February after a dismal run under Frank.

The former Marseille manager has only had two games with Spurs but it seems the north London team may be considering pulling the plug on his tenure already.

Indeed, Crook did not rule out a speedy dismissal, while not being able to confirm the veracity of these rumours.

He said on talkSPORT on Wednesday: “There’s certainly been a fair few whispers. I’ve been making some enquiries and been met with a wall of silence, unable to stand up these rumours, but I understand it. Already, this looks like a disastrous appointment.

“Tudor has a reputation of being a firefighter and winning his first game, but he’s lost to Arsenal and Fulham and is going down the route of calling out his players.”

After the Fulham loss, Tudor tore into his Tottenham players, saying his squad “lacked everything” needed to win a game. He has not minced his words but at this rate, Tudor may not be around for much longer.

If there wasn’t at least some truth to the rumours, someone at the club surely would have come out and given a response backing the manager.

Tottenham cling on to positive record

Tottenham head into this fixture with lowly Palace off the back of a 10-game winless run. The last time Spurs won a game in the league was way back on 28 December against Palace at Selhurst Park, with Archie Gray scoring the winner.

Over the years, victories over the Eagles have provided a source of comfort for the north London team. In fact, Spurs have won 16 of their last 21 Premier League matches against Palace.

However, the Croydon outfit have emerged victorious in two of their last three meetings with Tottenham.

Tottenham have been decimated by injuries this season but they have welcomed back the likes of Pedro Porro and Kevin Danso to their defence.

Moreover, striker Richarlison, who repeatedly helped Everton stave off relegation to the Championship, is back fit and scoring again.

The Brazilian could be key in their bid to stay in the Premier League. Whether that will be enough to keep Tudor at the club remains to be seen.
